The EU Council has approved a revised maritime security strategy and action plan, updating the 2014 version. The update addresses evolving security challenges, including strategic competition, environmental issues, and cyber threats. It outlines six strategic objectives and concrete actions to enhance maritime security, cooperation with partners, awareness, risk management, capabilities, and education and training. The EU will implement the plan and evaluate its progress in three years, guided by the Strategic Compass for Security and Defence.
